Do you know why stock markets behave the way they behave? Or why Behavioural Economics is such an important branch of Economics? Because the assumption that human beings who run the markets and the economies are rational – is somewhat incorrect. Rather, hugely incorrect. Yes. Irrational people are everywhere. Some are very apparent, others are cleverly concealed 🙂 … and that’s why, dealing with irrational people is an art. One that we all need to practice!

We have conquered space, biology, technology, art and almost everything. Is it not strange that most of us are yet decrepit about the most basic thing in life- ‘Love’? More wars are being fought inside homes and inside relationships than on the border. Joint Families were in fashion just a few decades back. Over time, it came down to husband-wife-kids. Now, even the husbands- wives want to live separately. Our intellects & arrogances might have grown because of our exposures to the world; but our so called high intellects are slowly becoming divisive (for our own good). Slowly they are turning schizophrenic too. Most relationships are failing these days. Scary!

Sometimes the solution to a problem is so simple and in the face, that we don’t have the courage to go for it. This story took care of my fear of action to a great extent and hence, as I write about how to overcome fear and win courage for yourself; this story comes first:

Diary of a Young Girl of Marriageable Age: Guest Post by Arunima Shah:

Before I rocket launch into my diary entry, there is one important question I have – what exactly is this “MARRIAGEABLE AGE”? And who decides when I become marriageable really? My parents, my biology, my economy or my cosmology / astrology or Society?

If someone has a good answer, please let me know! 🙂

If you have ever attended any of my Motivational Talks, you would know – how huge a fan, I am, of these motivational one liners. They are funny, witty, smart and they do the job – in fewer words. And the writing bug bit me around 7 years ago. Ever since I have been coming up with my own too; albeit occasionally. The reason for sharing them here is – it’s a collection for you, my reader, to come back for some quick inspiration – whenever you feel that life has been kicking you harder than you deserve. Some of these motivational one liners though, might kick you harder while some are sympathetic (if you like sympathy, do read the first one carefully). Truth, sometimes, sounds harsh.

20 was such an important age for me. It felt like life was happening right then and there. I kind of felt that I was the center of the universe and that the earth revolves round me :). And those days still stay the most happening & important part of my life. As I double myself (I will be 40 this November) ; in this short and sweet letter to my 20 year old self, I so wish to write that –

You are both right and wrong.

Motivational Blogs

How to convert your content into popular blogs ?

My Learnings :-

  • Majority of these Blogs come from my personal experience. And from the collective experiences of the people (youth) who write to me about their concerns and problems on my Social Media. If you wish to become a very good blogger on self-help, you do not need to read or write more. You need to begin to LIVE MORE. And understand India and Indian ways more deeply.
  • Start writing about what fascinates you and not merely about what is likely to become popular. No point writing what someone else could have written. Write as if your audience is very smart and as if your readers have very little time. This will infuse brevity and creativity into your blog writings.
  • Writing helps one in so many other ways too e.g. it helps me clarify my own mind. When I blog about things, I thought I was very sure about' I realize how unsure I am in reality. Having such a clear mind is a super power in these hyper distracted times.
  • My blogs are primarily on Self-help. But a few of my blogs on Relationships, Leadership, Time management, Communication skills, English Grammar & Vocabulary had 2 million plus unique views. Most Popular Blogs
  • After blogging for some 10 years continuously I took a small break. Now I do not intend to write long form content. Just micro-blogs on self-help. Also, motivational blogs in Hindi too.
  • HERE is my detailed write up on ‘How to start a Blog and make it very popular’.
