Ever since I started my journey as a Motivational Speaker and a Corporate Trainer, videos have been an indispensable tool for me. I might say a 1000 words but still can’t do what motivational videos can do. These are stories, woven into images and motion. They talk of success and failure and life, in a way that makes the viewer believe, that their lives are truly meant for bigger and better things.
That’s what this post is about. A repertoire of four amazing motivational videos to super-charge your confidence, something you can keep coming back to. I have certainly loved these videos and often use content from them for my sessions. And I can guarantee that they will change the way you look at things, if you really watch them closely and try to apply even a little of what they are trying to tell you.
1. Find your Greatness
Don’t just watch it. Take notes if you need to. For it will tell you, what greatness really means.
The lines that steal the show,
If greatness doesn’t knock on your door, you go knock on its door.
I am sure we all aspire to be great. We have big dreams and we want everything for ourselves. But mostly, we get intimidated by pebbles on our ways, that seem like huge roadblocks. Please remember, that every person who ever became great, started as a nobody. Greatness does not require an audience or fame. All it needs is – your indomitable spirit to not give up. It is an attempt, a choice, a decision you make to live your life a certain way, to be a certain kind of person.
Choose to be great. Not many are working on it anyway.
2. Sadhguru on Depression
I wasn’t always a believer. But now I think, why wasn’t I ?
Youth today does not probably believe in spirituality because they have never seen the true face of it, never met the right proponents, never felt what it is to be truly spiritual. For there is nothing more logical and scientific than the understanding of the spirit! Don’t believe me? Watch as Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev indulges into the new talk of the town, ‘Depression’.
Many of us believe we are battling depression and there is no help around. Well, this could be a good place to begin. Sadhguru discusses your physical, mental and spiritual well being with extreme logic and makes a lot of sense. Listen to this, if you believe that your state of mind is what is stopping you from achieving greatness! Till the time you fix your internal mechanism, that rock-solid confidence will keep eluding you!
IQ and knowledge are overestimated and hyped virtues. They guarantee neither wisdom nor prosperity. That’s why the need to focus on EQ & SQ (Spiritual Quotient). My own life changed forever after the reading the book ‘Autobiography of a Yogi’ by Sri Paramhansa Yogananda. In case you have not read this book yet- pls do. Trust me- you secretly need this one. You can order this book HERE .
3. J. K. Rowling’s Harvard Commencement Speech on Benefits of Failure
I will be honest. I have not read her work (My 11 yr old son has read all her works twice but 🙂 ). The fact that J.K. Rowling has single handedly inspired generations to pick up the beautiful habit of reading (including my naughty son) is enough for me get inspired. And her speech does total justice to the idea of superb inspiration. This is one of those motivational videos that I absolutely vouch for as a complete one. It is funny, motivational, enlightening, moving and what not!
Rock-bottom is the solid foundation on which she built her life. Her following statement totally steals the show for me:
“There is an expiry date to blaming your parents for steering you in the wrong direction.”
Here’s her Harvard speech:
4. What makes a good life? Robert Waldinger
This is one of the most hard hitting motivational videos I have come across.
What makes you happy? Money? Being rich / famous? This is from a Harvard Study that tracks adult life and development over a period of 75 years! Yes. You read it right. 75 years of longitudinal data on what makes people happy, on what makes a good life! Robert Waldinger, in his extremely insightful TEDx talk, shares results from 700+ people, 60 still living participants and their 2000+ children, all over the world. Incredible, to say the least!
You really need to watch the talk to see all your myths about happiness be shattered in 12 minutes, 46 seconds. Watch it to know about the three biggest lessons on happiness, from the longest study on happiness! You may want to also read ‘How to be happy in today’s times‘
Got room for more? Here are the videos of my Motivational Talks.
There are hundreds and millions of such motivational videos out there on web. It could be anything that moves you. It may be athletes, women who shattered all boundaries to find their place, entrepreneurs, business people, achievers, students, people who have suffered but smiled through. The truth is, there is no formula for motivation because human beings are not absolute. We can be counted, but not quantified.
But it is important that you find out – what is it that moves you to tears of joy? What is it that super-charges your confidence? It will always be stories. Small or big stories (Three kick-ass motivational stories, if tales are your thing!). Minute achievements or monumental victories. These videos are nothing but a bunch of such stories, hidden within each other. And until you find your own story, here’s what you do – Save these, download these, watch these – as much as it takes. Because, if any of this inspires you – it is worth holding on to.
And I want to know what moves you to greatness. Do tell us in comments!
